Western Orchard Pest and Disease Management Conference

Presenters' Checklist

84th Annual Conference
Hilton Portland, Portland Oregon
January 13, 14 & 15, 2010

Reporting/Presenting Procedures -- PLEASE READ

Based on the streamlining of the submission process in 2002, we have adopted the new method of electronic submission of titles and abstracts.

  • The printed booket will contain titles/author/abstract ONLY with a limit on length.
  • The on-line version of the report has NO PAGE LIMIT (but please be reasonable).
  • There will be a poster session. You may choose it as an option for any or all of your reports. Indicate your choice in the email to which you attach the title/abstract. In addition, if there are more talks than we feel we can cover in the meeting's time frame, we will ask that some presentations be given as posters. If you are not contacted by one of the officers, assume that your presentation will be given in the format you requested.
  • You need to submit a title/author/abstract to "reserve" a place in the program. A longer written report is optional; if none is submitted, the abstract will go in the on-line proceedings. Unscheduled talks may be given at the end of the meeting if time allows (an infrequent occurrence).
  • All submissions must be in electronic format.

Checklist

1.

Submit title and abstract (Details) by Dec. 4, 2009.

2.

Submit written report in electronic format by Jan. 22, 2010. Details.

3.

In late December 2009, check website for program agenda.

4a.

Oral presenters attend your session and be prepared to present during the time frame listed. Visual aids are optional, but greatly enhance your talk. Details.

Presentations MUST be turned in to the presentation desk no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session (morning or afternoon) of the presentation (e.g., by 7:30 am on Thursday and Friday mornings for morning presentations, by 12:30 pm on Wednesday and Thursday for the afternoon presentations).  Compatibility problems with the computers are not uncommon, so submitting the presentations early is highly recommended if corrections need to be made.

4b.

Posters: If you are in a poster session, please have your poster up in the designated area in the lobby by noon, Wednesday. It can be left up throughout the meeting. Please be present at your poster during the Poster Session, which occurs during the 10 am coffee break on Thursday, January 14.

Posters are limited to dimensions of 48 x 48 inches.  Posters are to be attached by velcro (hook and loop) fasteners;  tacks or pins are not to be used (the poster boards are gratiously loaned to us by the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission).

No booths or other vendor accommodations are available.
